Smoking And Migraines - Is there a relationship between smoking and migraines?

A study of smoking and patients with chronic headaches show some results. Patients who reduced cigarette consumption as much as half a pack a day is shocking to reduce headache frequency by 50%. This research is simply asking the patient to reduce his cigarette, not stop it. Imagine the results that may be obtained if the smoker stops total.

In another study, 53% of migraine sufferers who stop smoking at the same time by stopping consumption of foods that trigger migraines find migrennya stops in total. In contrast, only 13% of migraine sufferers who do not smoke, which stop the consumption of foods trigger migraine into migraine-free.

Many migraine sufferers are sensitive to strong smells, like perfume, the smell of food, and tobacco smoke. Other migraine sufferers in a specific, sensitive only to the smell of tobacco smoke. The rest are allergic to cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco smoke.

All of these people reported that active and passive smoking trigger a migraine. Sometimes a cigarette is the only trigger and sometimes is one part of a combination of migraine triggers. The experts and migraine sufferers agree that there is a relationship between smoking and migraines, it's just still waiting for proof.

Many of the known effect of smoking is very detrimental effect on those prone to headaches. Adverse side effects including increased blood pressure, inflammation or irritation of sinus and nasal cavity, and a higher risk for stroke.
